to Skills and Steps for Certified Deaf Interpreting Workshop from 8:30 am to 5
pm at California State University, Northridge, CSUN, 18111 Nordhoff Street,
Northridge, CA 91330, College of Education, Room 1129/1130. Workshop
Description: This all day workshop will discuss the concept of Deaf Interpreting
and what it takes to make it successful. During the workshop, participants will
review materials for CDI Knowledge Testing. There will be an overview of
expectations & preparations for CDI tests, discussion of ethical matters, and
some hands-on activities. Presenter: Daniel Langholtz is a longtime
colleague, consumer, friend, and supporter of interpreters. Dan has a BA degree
in social work from NTID/RIT, a MA degree in social work from New York
University, and is a licensed social worker in California. He has been with the
University of California Center on Deafness in San Francisco for 27 years, doing
both clinical work and training in the area of mental health and deafness.
Mr. Langholtz has a CDI and CLIP-R, and works in a variety of settings such
courts, medical and social within teams of Deaf and Hearing interpreters for
many years. He has been member of RID since 1976, served on Ethical Practices
System, Mediation, Revision of Code of Ethics now known as Code of Professional
Conduct, Certificate Testing Development Committees and most recently serving on
Strategic Challenges Bylaws Review Task Force (SCBRTF). He has provided workshop
